Buzzfeed Quiz!! Which Witch are You?

For this blog post I decided to make a quiz for you guys to figure out which iconic witch you are most like! I loved taking these personality quizzes growing up, so I thought it would be fun to make one highlighting three different stereotypes of witches in popular media. Leave a comment with which witch you got!

Here is the link to the quiz that I made:  Buzzfeed Quiz

After you take the quiz check back with your results below!

Alice Kyteler: From a family of merchants in Kilkenny, Alice Kyteler was the first ever witch accused of sorcery and witchcraft in Ireland. Over the course of her life, she had five husbands. Each time one husband would pass away, she would inherit their wealth and land, angering her step-children who believed that they should inherit the wealth and land instead of her. These angry step-children accused her of witchcraft in an attempts to steal her power.

If you get Alice Kyteler you are a GIRL BOSS! You don’t let the man bring you down and you are always chasing that bag girl! Too bad the bad guys won this time…. Don’t let the haters bring you down!

Wicked Witch of the West: The Wicked Witch of the West is the stereotypical malevolent witch from the iconic film The Wizard of Oz. She has green skin, the mark of the witch, and rides a broomstick. She is the leader of a pack of evil flying monkeys and holds the land of Oz in her evil powers. Her main purpose in life is to terrorize little Dorothy to steal her Ruby Red slippers. She is vanquished and melts when Dorothy throws a pale of water on her that was mean to save her burning Scarecrow friend.

If you get the Wicked Witch of the West you are classic, true to character, and downright BAD. You enjoy watching others suffer, manipulating them to your whims, and will stop at nothing to get what you want. I would throw a pale of water on you, too.

Samantha from Bewitched: Samantha is the friendly witch from the TV series Bewitched. Samantha marries Darren who is a mortal and finds out she is a witch after they get married. Her mother, Andora, does not approve of her marrying a mortal and is always stirring up trouble. Sabrina tries to live life like a mortal, but always winds up crinkling her nose to use her powers.

If you get Samantha you are a sweet heart with a bit of a mischievous side. You like to be playful and have fun, and never shy away from stirring the pot. You try your best at all that you do but are willing to own up to it when you fall short.

Personal Experience with Crystals, Astrology, and Elsa the Neighborhood Witch

As we talked about astrology and crystals in class, it had me thinking about some personal experiences with the witches in my community at home. The town that I live in is small, eclectic, and home to a very vibrant arts community. Naturally, there is a popular crystal shop called Earth Stones International owned by a woman named Elsa on the main street next to the shop where I work every summer. The walls in her shop are lined with crystals big and small from the floor to the ceiling. Some of them are labeled with their names and the energies that they enhance, block, or carry, while others remain unmarked and mysterious. For those unmarked crystals, you have to rely on Elsa to teach you their powers.       Over the years, my mom and I have become friends with Elsa. When I first met her, she asked me for my birthday and after crunching some numbers in her head told me that my “number” was six. She told me that this meant that I was very critical ...

Final Roses and Thorns Reflection

One of my favorite traditions among my friends is to talk about the roses and the thorns of our days. When we do this, we go around the room and discuss our highs (roses) and our lows (thorns). It is one of my favorite ways to reflect on the day, practice gratitude for the good things and to learn from the more difficult parts. As the semester winds down, I thought it would be nice to reflect on my roses and thorns of my semester in Witches class!  Roses One of my favorite aspects of this course was getting to learn about witchcraft as a reflection of culture. One of the ways that this was relevant was through the popular media presentations. As I observed in one of my other blog posts, it was interesting to watch the ways that popular representations of witches have changed over time and how those changes may reflect the type of society that exists in that specific time period. Times seem to always be tough, and at any moment in history there may be a million different things happ...
